Terms & Conditions
Swiftr turns your runs into competition — 1v1 races, club league tables, user-created races, SWIFTR. PTS and real rewards. These Terms explain the rules of that: what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and how results and prizes are handled.
Please read them. The sections that matter most are SWIFTR. PTS, Buying PTS, payments and refunds, Staking and settlement, Responsible play and spending, Fair play and anti-cheat and Your safety and health.
One thing to be clear about up front: PTS can be bought, but they can never be exchanged for cash. You stake them in races you run yourself, and you spend them on reward vouchers. Swiftr does not pay out money.
01About these terms
These terms and conditions (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Swiftr (“Swiftr”, “we”, “us”, “our”), the operator of the Swiftr app, the website at swiftr.run and any related services, competitions and campaigns (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account, connecting Strava, entering a race or draw, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
You can reach us at any time at team@swiftr.run. These Terms took effect on 30 August 2026.
02Who can use Swiftr
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use the Service.
- You must be at least 18 years old to buy, hold or stake SWIFTR. PTS, to enter any competition, race or draw with a prize, or to claim a reward or voucher — unless the rules of a specific campaign say otherwise.
- You must be able to enter a binding contract and must not be barred from using the Service under the laws of your country.
- You must give accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
We may ask you to verify your age or identity before paying out a prize, and we may withhold a prize until you do.
03Your account
You are responsible for everything that happens on your account. Keep your login details secure and tell us immediately at team@swiftr.run if you think someone else has access to it.
- One account per person. Duplicate, shared, sold or transferred accounts are not allowed.
- No impersonation. Don’t register under someone else’s name, club or brand.
- Your account, your Swiftr Rating, your SWIFTR. PTS and any prize entitlement are personal to you and cannot be sold, traded or transferred.
04Connecting Strava
Swiftr is powered by Strava. When you connect your Strava account, you authorise us to receive your activity data through Strava’s API and to use it to score races, rank clubs and calculate your Swiftr Rating.
- Strava is an independent third party. Swiftr is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Strava, and your use of Strava is governed by Strava’s own terms and privacy policy.
- You must have the right to connect the Strava account you connect, and it must be your own.
- You can disconnect Swiftr at any time from your Strava settings or from within the app. If you disconnect, runs stop syncing and you may become ineligible for in-flight races, competitions and prizes.
- We are not responsible for Strava outages, API changes, sync delays or data that Strava does not make available to us.
What we do with the data we receive is set out in our Privacy Policy.
05Runs, results and what counts
Strava is the record. A run counts towards a race, club competition or leaderboard only if it is recorded on Strava, synced to Swiftr, falls inside the relevant competition window, and meets the rules of that competition.
- Activities must be genuine, human-powered runs made by you, recorded in real time.
- We may exclude any activity that we reasonably believe is invalid, duplicated, manually created, edited, or produced by anything other than you running.
- Results are provisional until we confirm them. We may correct standings, ratings and prize outcomes if we find an error, a technical fault, or a breach of these Terms.
- Where a result is disputed, our decision is final, acting reasonably and in good faith. Nothing here affects your legal rights.
06Races, clubs and competitions
The Service includes 1v1 races from the public lobby, weekly club competitions, and races that users create themselves. Each competition has its own rules — distance, window, scoring metric, entry requirements and prize — which are shown before you enter and form part of these Terms.
- Entry is voluntary. Entering a race means you accept its rules.
- User-created races. If you create a race, you are responsible for setting fair rules, and you must not create races designed to mislead entrants or to manipulate outcomes, ratings or prize pools.
- We may change or cancel a competition where it is affected by a technical failure, suspected manipulation, safety concerns, or circumstances outside our control. Where a competition is cancelled, any PTS staked in it are returned.
- Matchmaking uses your Swiftr Rating to find close races. We do not guarantee that any particular opponent, race or competition will be available.
07Swiftr Rating
Your Swiftr Rating is a score out of 99 that we calculate from your run history across dimensions such as speed, endurance, consistency, volume and recovery.
- It is an indicative measure for matchmaking and fun — not a medical, fitness or professional assessment, and not a statement of fact about your ability.
- We may change how the rating is calculated at any time, which may move your rating up or down.
- We may reset, correct or freeze a rating that has been affected by invalid data or a breach of these Terms.
- A rating has no monetary value and gives you no entitlement to any prize.
08SWIFTR. PTS
SWIFTR. PTS (“PTS”) are a virtual in-app score used to enter and stake races. You earn PTS by competing.
PTS cannot currently be bought, and cannot currently be exchanged for anything. They have no cash value, are not money or e-money, and are not transferable outside the Service. We may in future offer ways to buy PTS or to exchange them for rewards; if we do, the terms below that describe purchases, refunds and vouchers will apply, and until then they describe nothing that is available.
- PTS are not money. They are not legal tender, not e-money, not a payment instrument and not a financial product. They have no value outside the Service and are not a store of value.
- PTS cannot be cashed out. They cannot be exchanged for cash, withdrawn, transferred to another user, or sold, traded or gifted outside the Service. The only two things you can do with PTS are stake them in a race you are running and convert them into a reward voucher.
- Buying PTS gets you PTS and nothing else. It is not a bet, a deposit, an investment or a payment into a fund we hold for you, and it gives you no entitlement to any prize or return.
- PTS are a limited, personal, revocable licence to use a feature of the Service. You do not own them and they are not your property.
- Expiry. PTS you were awarded or earned may expire after 12 months of account inactivity, and we’ll warn you by email first. PTS you paid for do not expire while your account is open.
- We may award, adjust, withhold or remove PTS that were credited in error, obtained in breach of these Terms, or attached to an activity we later invalidate. We will not remove PTS you have paid for except where they were obtained in breach of these Terms or the payment for them failed or was reversed.
- We may change the price of PTS, the size of stakes and the PTS cost of a voucher at any time. Changes are never retrospective — they don’t affect PTS already bought or a race you’ve already entered.
09Buying PTS, payments and refunds
You can buy PTS in the app. The price and the number of PTS are shown before you confirm, in your local currency where available, and include VAT or local sales tax where it applies.
- You must be 18 or over to buy PTS, and you must use a payment method you are entitled to use.
- Who takes the payment. Purchases made inside the iOS or Android app are processed by Apple or Google under their own terms, and refunds for those purchases are handled by them. Purchases made anywhere else are processed by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.
- Delivery is immediate. PTS are credited to your account as soon as your payment clears.
- Your 14-day right to cancel. As a consumer you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. When you buy PTS you ask for them to be supplied immediately, and you agree that you lose that right to cancel once the PTS are credited to your account. We ask you to confirm this at checkout.
- Otherwise, PTS purchases are non-refundable. We will still refund you where the law requires it, where PTS weren’t delivered, where you were charged or credited in error, or where we discontinue the Service — see Suspension and termination.
- Once staked, PTS are committed. A stake can’t be refunded because you changed your mind, had a bad run, or lost the race.
- Talk to us before a chargeback. Email team@swiftr.run — we’d rather just fix it. Raising a chargeback without contacting us may lead to your account being suspended while it’s resolved.
- Failed or reversed payments. If a payment fails or is reversed after PTS have been credited, we may remove those PTS and reverse any results, prizes or vouchers that depended on them.
10Staking and settlement
Staking is how you put PTS on the line in a race you are running yourself.
- You are always a competitor, never a spectator. You can only stake on a race you have entered and are running. Swiftr does not offer, and you may not use it for, staking on another person’s result, on an event you are not competing in, or on anything outside the Service.
- The outcome is decided by running. Who wins is determined by the entrants’ Strava-verified activities measured against the race’s published metric. It is not decided by chance and it is not decided by us.
- The stake is fixed before the race. It is shown to you before you confirm, and it is the same for every entrant unless the race rules say otherwise.
- Stakes are held on entry — deducted from your balance when you join — and settled once the race is scored and the result confirmed.
- Settlement. The pooled stakes are distributed to the finishers according to the split published in the race rules.
- Stakes come back in full if a race is cancelled or voided, if it doesn’t reach its minimum number of entrants, or if a technical fault means it can’t be scored fairly.
- Our fee. Where we take a fee from a prize pool, the fee is shown in the race’s rules before you enter.
- Stakes, results and settlements may be reversed where we find cheating, collusion, a scoring error or a technical fault — see Fair play and anti-cheat.
11Responsible play and spending
Swiftr is meant to be fun. Racing for PTS you’ve paid for can stop being fun, so please treat it the way you’d treat any spending on entertainment.
- Only buy PTS you can comfortably afford to lose. PTS you stake and lose are gone, and they can never be converted back into money.
- You can ask us to set a spending or staking limit on your account, or to self-exclude — blocking purchases and staking for a period you choose, or permanently — by emailing team@swiftr.run. We’ll action it promptly. Lowering a limit takes effect immediately; raising one takes effect after a cooling-off period.
- We may limit or block purchases and staking on an account where we have concerns about someone’s spending or wellbeing.
- Never chase a loss with a run that isn’t safe. See Your safety and health.
- If spending on any app is becoming a problem for you, free and confidential help is available from GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.
12Prizes, vouchers and rewards
Some races, club competitions and campaigns carry prizes — PTS, or reward vouchers redeemable with our partner brands.
- Swiftr never pays out cash. Everything you win is paid in PTS or in vouchers, and there is no cash alternative to any prize. PTS you win, exactly like PTS you buy, cannot be exchanged for money, withdrawn or transferred — see SWIFTR. PTS.
- Prizes are subject to availability. We may substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
- Vouchers are issued by third-party brands and are subject to that brand’s own terms, expiry and restrictions. We are not responsible for a partner’s goods, services or refusal to honour a voucher, though we will help you resolve issues where we can.
- Winners are notified using the contact details on their account. If a winner cannot be contacted, does not respond, or does not claim within 28 days, we may withdraw the prize and re-award it.
- You are responsible for any tax arising from a prize you receive.
- We may publish a winner’s first name, club, city and Swiftr profile picture in results, leaderboards and announcements.
13Draws, campaigns and promotions
From time to time we run prize draws, giveaways and launch campaigns — including weekly draws for entrants who complete a qualifying run.
The one running now is the Weekly Competition, and it has its own published rules: Weekly Competition — Official Rules. They cover who may enter, that entry is free, how the winner is drawn and what the prize is. Read them before entering.
- Each campaign has its own published rules covering the entry window, how to enter, what counts as proof of entry, the prize, the number of winners and how they are selected. Those rules apply in addition to these Terms, and prevail if there is a conflict.
- Entry to a draw is always free — no purchase is necessary, and buying PTS never buys you entries or improves your chances. Draws are separate from staked races, where you commit PTS to a race you run yourself (see Staking).
- One entry per person per campaign unless the rules say otherwise. Bulk, automated or duplicate entries are void.
- Where a campaign asks you to submit proof (for example a photo of you in your kit or a screenshot of a run), you confirm the submission is genuine, is of you, and that you have the right to share it.
- Winners are drawn at random from valid entries unless a campaign is expressly skill-based.
14Fair play and anti-cheat
Competition only works if it is honest. Prizes make that non-negotiable.
You must not
- Falsify, spoof, edit or simulate GPS, pace, distance, time, elevation or heart-rate data by any means.
- Record an activity while cycling, driving, riding or otherwise travelling by vehicle, or upload someone else’s activity as your own.
- Use bots, scripts, emulators, modified apps or any automated means to generate or submit activity.
- Operate multiple accounts, collude with other users, deliberately lose or sandbag to manipulate matchmaking, ratings or prize pools.
- Exploit a bug, glitch or scoring error rather than reporting it to us.
What happens if you do
We may void results, reverse ratings, remove PTS, withhold or reclaim prizes, restrict features, and suspend or permanently close your account. Where a prize has already been paid out on the back of a breach, we may require it to be returned or its value repaid. We may also disqualify a club where its members have acted together.
15Your safety and health
You run at your own risk. Swiftr is a competition and social platform, not a coach, and nothing in the Service is medical advice.
- Speak to a doctor before starting or significantly increasing training, and stop if you feel unwell.
- Obey traffic laws, respect other road, path and park users, and choose safe routes, times and conditions. Never race in a way that endangers you or anyone else.
- A race, streak, deadline or prize is never a reason to run somewhere or in a state that isn’t safe. Competitions do not require you to run at any particular time or place.
- You are responsible for your own insurance, equipment and decisions about where and when you run.
16Your content and conduct
“Your content” means anything you submit — profile details, photos, club names and crests, race names, messages and campaign entries.
- You keep ownership of your content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt and display it for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service, including in leaderboards, results and campaign announcements.
- You confirm you have the rights to everything you submit and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.
- Don’t post anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, harassing, sexual, discriminatory, deceptive or invasive of someone’s privacy, and don’t use the Service to spam, scrape, advertise without our permission, or promote gambling.
- We may remove content and restrict accounts that breach these Terms.
17Partners, creators and affiliates
If you work with us as a creator, ambassador, affiliate, run club or brand partner, these Terms apply to your use of the Service and sit alongside — and are subordinate to — any separate written agreement between us, which prevails if there is a conflict.
- No partnership, agency, employment or joint venture is created by these Terms, and you have no authority to bind Swiftr or to make commitments on our behalf.
- Any commission, fee, PTS allocation, prize budget or reward is only payable on the terms of that separate written agreement.
- When you promote Swiftr you must clearly disclose the commercial relationship (for example “#ad” or “paid partnership”) in line with the advertising rules that apply where you are, and you must not make claims about Swiftr that we haven’t approved — including invented user numbers, earnings or guarantees.
- You may use our name and logo only as we approve in writing, and you must stop when we ask or when the arrangement ends.
- Attribution links (for example
?via=tags) are for tracking referrals. Don’t generate artificial traffic, clicks or signups against them.
18Our intellectual property
The Service, the Swiftr name and wordmark, the Swiftr Rating model, and all software, design, text and graphics in the Service belong to us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial use. You must not copy, modify, reverse engineer, scrape, resell or create derivative works from any part of the Service, or use our branding, without our written permission.
19Availability, early access and changes
Swiftr is a new and evolving product. Parts of the Service are in early access and may be incomplete, change significantly, or be withdrawn.
- We don’t promise the Service will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we may suspend it for maintenance, updates or security.
- We may add, change, limit or remove features — including competitions, PTS mechanics, rewards and the rating model — at any time. Where a change materially disadvantages you, we’ll give reasonable notice where we can.
- We won’t take away your ability to spend PTS you have paid for without giving you notice and a way to use them or get them refunded — see Suspension and termination.
- The Service depends on third parties (Strava, hosting, messaging and fulfilment providers) and on your device and connection.
20Suspension and termination
You can close your account at any time, yourself, from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. It takes two taps and happens immediately — you do not need to email us and there is no waiting period. You can still write to us at team@swiftr.run if you would rather we did it for you.
Closing your account cannot be undone. Your profile, your synced Strava activity, your rating, your PTS balance, your friends and your messages are erased. Races you have already run stay on record with your name removed from them — a race has two runners in it, and deleting your side would rewrite the other person’s results. Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what goes and what stays.
We may suspend or terminate your access, with notice where reasonably possible, if you breach these Terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud, cheating or abuse, or if we’re required to by law.
What happens to your PTS
- If you close your account, or we close it for a reason that isn’t your fault, we’ll refund any unspent PTS you paid for to your original payment method. PTS you earned or were awarded are forfeited.
- If we terminate your account for a breach of these Terms — cheating, fraud or abuse — all PTS on the account, bought or earned, may be forfeited without refund, and pending prize claims tied to that breach may be cancelled.
- If we discontinue the Service, we’ll give you reasonable notice and a window to spend your PTS, then refund whatever unspent PTS you paid for.
On termination your licence to use the Service ends. Clauses that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, liability and governing law — continue to apply.
21Disclaimers and our liability
The Service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we exclude all implied warranties, and we do not warrant that results, ratings, standings or third-party data are accurate, complete or uninterrupted.
What we never limit
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. If you use Swiftr as a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights, and nothing here affects them.
What we are not liable for
- Loss or injury arising from your running, training or any physical activity.
- Acts, omissions, goods, services or content of third parties — including Strava, prize partners, other users, clubs and race organisers.
- Loss of profit, business, opportunity, goodwill, data or anticipated savings, or any indirect or consequential loss.
- Failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, or by your device, connection or third-party settings.
Subject to the paragraph above, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and (b) £100.
22Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the product develops or the law changes. The current version always lives at swiftr.run/terms with the date it took effect at the top.
If a change is material, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms; if you don’t accept them, stop using the Service and close your account.
23Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
Please contact us first at team@swiftr.run — most things are quicker to fix directly.
24General
- These Terms, plus any competition or campaign rules and any separate partner agreement, are the entire agreement between us about the Service.
- If any clause is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we haven’t waived it.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another business; your rights won’t be affected. You may not transfer yours without our written consent.
- No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these Terms.
